What to do next in the case of death

كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ

"Every soul will taste death" {3:185}

For the next steps, we will try to accommodate in your time of need

During this difficult time, families and friends are usually unaware of the next required steps in order to bury your loved ones.

Below is a brief description of what is required after the death of your loved one.

If you need any assistance, do not hesitate to get in contact with us.

1

Obtain the death certificate

Once the cause of death is known, the GP/Hospital will issue the death certificate.

If the cause of death is not known, the coroner must be informed and a post-mortem will be required to confirm the cause of death. Once this is established, the death certificate will be issued.

You must then inform the funeral director to begin the necessary arrangements .

2

Register the death

Take the death certificate along with forms of identification of the deceased to the Registry's office.

They will then issue two certificates.

1: Green slip - This will need to be handed over to the funeral director.

2: White BD8 form - This is used for social service purposes.

3

Location of the grave

The family of the deceased will need to decide the location of the burial. You can choose either local borough cemeteries or private cemeteries.

We can help in arranging a grave but the family will be required to pay the cemetery directly for all land costs involved.

4

Preparation

The body can only be picked up once the green slip has been retrieved. The funeral director will then transport the body to the masjid.

Once the body has arrived at the masjid, it is a necessity for a Ghusl and wrapped in the white cloth.

The funeral prayer can either be prayed at the masjid or the cemetery

Final abode

The funeral director will transport the body to the cemetery and ensure that the burial takes place according to the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم

The service will be treated with the utmost care and compassion throughout the procedure as we understand how hard this death will be upon you and your family.
